Hi All,

As you may have noticed, things have been (how shall I say this and be positive?) "different" at the 169 BAR lately. Some nights have been cancelled and others have been changed to a different night altogether. After a year of building what I have been told by many was a pretty comfortable little scene down there, it looks like it may be over. I will know for sure soon. In the meantime, though, I have some really good shows still coming up. Also, lately more surprise guests have been popping in to do little 2-3 song sets, then hanging out and sometimes end up jamming with each other. It's a lot of fun, and with ROB NITRO on board as the DJ, you don't have to leave when the live music is over. That's because sometimes it isn't. NITRO keeps the mood going and I'm glad as all hell that he came aboard. So check the website calendar and come on down and check out what may be the last few weeks of NYC UNPLUGGED - The Core Of NYC's Best Bands at the 169 BAR!

As some of you may know, STEVE PANG, owner of OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD, has given me Sunday nites over there, so that the fun can continue. With the concept of having one band per month in residence every Sunday and then 2 other bands, nice things have been happening. Different artists are constantly stopping in and doing 2-3 songs in between the scheduled sets and the magic has been growing. So come on to OTTO's on Sunday and wind down and prepare for another week. Now that it's almost summer, the backyard has been opened for the Sunday BBQ in the afternoon, then at 7PM the music starts and continues all night. Plus they have these outrageous summer drinks that are awfully delicious and very powerful. Just ask NELSHA or NATASHA (or whoever is behind the bar at the time - they have the friendliest bartenders in town) for one of them (my favorites are the German Chocolate Cake and the Key Lime Pie) then sit back and relax.
