Hi All,

With all this Katrina stuff going on I almost forgot about 9/11. I miss those ugly towers. I miss the people who were lost. Last Friday there was a killer show at CONTINENTAL to honor one of our own - JOHNNY HEFF from THE BULLYS. He was one of the firemen who gave it all to help others. I remember the very first benefit we did at CBGB's on 12/13/01 and BOBBY STEELE came out and sang Johnny's parts. It was amazing! If you like, you can read what I wrote at that time on a webpage for Stemway PRoductions. My position remains the same.

Back to the present. This week CMJ is in town. Now let me ask you, who has ever come out of CMJ? You know, that wasn't related to someone or going down on someone?

I'll give you time to find an answer. In the meantime these carpetbaggers come in and take over our clubs, charge high covers at the door and then, after all the "vip card people" are done showing how hip they are, go back to doing whoever, I mean whatever they were doing before they made their yearly pilgrammage to the lower east side. SCREW THEM! I have 2 shows this week in NYC and both of them are FREE!

Thursday nite at GRAND CENTRAL BAR, KENN & MARY BETH will host one of the hottest acts out of TENNESSEE, PLAN A. These guys are gonna rock you along with CHRISTOPHER BLUE of the SENSATION JUNKIES from SEATTLE. They will be joined by local bands MANDRED, G-WHIZ and PROTOCOL. Plus there will be FREE BBQ Chicken with all beers $4 or less, that sounds like a recipe for a party! Get over to Brooklyn and check these guys out.

On Saturday, ELWOOD (BIG DADDY's RHYTHM REVIEW) will be having an ALL DAY Benefit at GRAND CENTRAL for Hurricane Katrina victims, with real New Orleans-style BBQ and N'awlins-style rock'n'roll. Go on over and help support those who were impacted by this horrendus storm.

Then on Sunday, KAREN CURIOUS will be hosting PLAN A and CHRISTOPHER BLUE at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD along with JIG MAKERS, STOLEN CHERRY and OUTTHUNK. I hear she may also do some of her new tunes, unplugged. For those of you who remember, she played 7 straight weeks at OTTO's working out the kinks of all thew songs that are on her highly successfull album. So come on down to OTTO's, where you're always on the beach with fancy drinks that have unbrellas.

That's it for now. I'll have more info next week about some other benefits we have coming up.

Take care,

WOOD
