Hi All,

I'm BACK! It's GREAT to be back in NYC and boy am I busy already. I have 3 new clubs wanting me to do bookings there.

Hurricane WILMA really screwed things up in Florida. Where I was, there was no water for 2 days and when I left there still wasn't any electricity in my part of the county (and that was day 9!). I got out of there as fast as I could. CANDY FROM STRANGERS had a week of cancellations (5 shows) because of it. You can't play if there's no electric power.

Also I haven't been able to access my e-mails from my webpage (why? I don't know) [He forgot the address! - RL]

Now I'm back in NYC and business as usual. I have to thank MARY BETH, KAREN CURIOUS and KENN for holding down the fort while I was gone. They did a GREAT JOB, considering what a prick I can be to work with. GRAND CENTRAL BAR is doing better than ever and OTTO's is back up to where it was before I left.

This week I will be celebrating my 50th birthday with a bunch of shows - the 6 DAYS OF WOOD. All of them will be outrageous.

Starting on Tuesday 11/8 at the C-NOTE with MAD JUANA - featuring SAMI YAFFA (HANOI ROCKS, NY DOLLS) and KARMEN GUY, PSYCHO THE CLOWN, THE GODSEND SESSIONS, BLONDE and BLUE, THE BAGHDADDIOS, MANDALA (from England) and DUNCAN. Not to forget, the DJ Extraordinaire, "MAN ABOUT TOWN" ROBERT LUND, will keep us busy before, in between and after the bands.

On Wednesday 11/9 we move over to Brooklyn and LILLIE's in Red Hook for a little bit of country/rockabilly/blues with THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE, ACID RAYZ, RENTED MULE and ZACK MILLER.

We stay in Brooklyn on Thursday with 2 shows: One is at TRASH with SWEAR ON YOUR LIFE (MILITIA's new band), ICU, BITTERWEED, KAOS FROM ORDER, KUNG FURY and BULIMIX. Don't forget there is an open bar from 9PM to 10PM, so get there early and stay late for the late-nite happy hour. Meanwhile over at GRAND CENTRAL BAR, MARY BETH and KENN will be hosting as UNDERMINE X, END OF ALL DREAMS, COPESETIC, PLASTIQ PASSION and SCOTT MAGRI rock the stage.

Friday nite is my actual birthday with THE line-up of the year at THE CONTINENTAL. You don't want to miss this show. We start with a band from Virginia that has been part of the whole east coast tour thing I've been doing. They are the MAIN OFFENDER and they can rock! 11:11 THEORY will follow them, and then we turn up the heat with GROUNDED, fronted by our very own PAM the METAL QUEEN with ALLEGRA on lead guitar. If that's not enough, THE NEW PROFESSIONALS will follow them. Led by KAREN CURIOUS, these guys blew the drawers off all who saw them as they toured the East Coast this summer, but you already know that because you all have probably seen them here in NYC. Then comes THE X's, JOHNNY LAW's (BANANA FISH ZERO) new band, featuring BRETT (FUEL), CHRIS/CUPCAKE (GSX) and drummer MIKE. And then comes one of NYC's legendary rockers who have been doing it right for over 20 years now - SEA MONSTER. Arthur is fully recovered from his accident over the summer and he tells me the boys are ready to do some serious ass-kicking rock'n'roll for my birthday. To close out the night MACKIN, featuring that skipping fool MEAN GENE will keep you going.

On Saturday it's back to the GRAND CENTRAL BAR in Brooklyn and some good old punk rock with SKEEVOTZ, JONES CRUSHER and CHARM SCHOOL. Also on the bill from upstate NY, ACOUSTIC TRAUMA. T.J. JORDAN will amaze you with some phenomenal guitar work, and ELWOOD (who also did a fantastic job running GRAND CENTRAL on Saturdays while I was gone) will return with his BIG DADDY's RHYTHM REVIEW and also a special surprise band.

Finally on Sunday we will wind down the week with a WIND DOWN SUNDAY to remember at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD. We will start with JOE BENDIK, whose style of acoustic punk will amaze you. Then FLACK BLAMINGO with LISA LUDWIG will take the stage. This is different from BLACK FLAMINGO because this is a meatier version, with MR. WOLF on guitar and BILLY FICA (TELEVISION) on drums. BETTIE AFTER MIDNIGHT will follow and UGLY FRIEND will be right after them. The night keeps going with the SCARED STIFFS, and then the LOVE PIRATES featuring GASS WILDE. Then we will have an NYC UNPLUGGED - the core of NYC's best bands, that will surprise you with our special surprise guests. I can't mention who, because they have some other shows coming up soon, but you can be assured of some NYC rock'n'roll ROYALTY (hint, hint). Then, who knows, maybe we will have the return of the SOFA KING WILDE JAM.

In all it looks like a GREAT week to be in NYC!

Come on down and help me celebrate the big 5-0. It should be alot of fun.

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll recover and send back reports on how it went.

Take care,

WOOD
