Hi All,

TRANSIT STRIKE! Oh well, personally I'm a UNION guy. Those people work real hard and the crooks at the MTA hierarchy should cut back their pension and give it to the working guy. A 3% raise? Your rent goes up 4%. I just hope it doesn't last too long. This exercise in walking is killing me.

Anyway, Sunday's show at OTTO's was FANTASTIC (see some photos HERE).

It started with some free food and an open bar and music from BLACK FLAMINGO. She was followed by one of the best young drummers to come around in a long time, SAMMI from FRANKIE & HIS FINGERS.

We then had a surprise appearance by THE HOT ROSES which features LITTLE LULU ADAMS on vocals with the go-go dancing of ZELDA ADAMS, backed up by the guitar of daddy JOHN ADAMS (THE X's, BFZ). We kept the family theme going with LULU's aunt's band THE SPRINKLE GENIES.

After them was a band made of people older than me! The RUSSELL BOOKER EXPERIENCE (with BILLY FICCA - TELEVISION - on drums). The were followed by a band produced by RICHARD LLOYD (TELEVISION) from Texas called NOPE. (Richard came out to support them and then hung out some.)

Then came the LOVE PIRATES blasting out for Christmas and Keith Richards' birthday, which was followed by a little swing from the NYC BLUES DEVILS with a serious hired gun horn section.

Around midnite it was still rockin' when LENNY KAYE (guitarist, author, producer...) hit the stage. Lenny mixed some funny anecdotes amongst some great songs, getting NICOLETTE to join him on one song and even adding the old Christmas classic GLORIA (in excelsis Deo - excuse my bad Latin). He followed that by asking some people to join him onstage for G-L-O-R-I-A and what a crew they were. SAMMI (FRANKIE & HIS FINGERS) on drums, Rob (NOPE) on bass and KARMEN GUY (MAD JUANA), PAM the METAL QUEEN (GROUNDED), MORGAN (SUPERVILLAIN), NICOLETTE and CHUCK (ROOTS ROCK REBEL) on backing vocals.

JOHN LAW had come back from putting the little ones to sleep and did his best to keep the party going, getting LUNDO for some back-up vocals on a few songs and then MORGAN singing BEAUTIFUL with JOHN on bass. Around that time THE "SOFA KING" WILDE JAM broke out with LENNY KAYE joining John and Chuck taking over the bass, and MORGAN & MIKEY RAT taking turns on the drums.

In between all this fabulous rock'n'roll LUNDO kept us amused with his demented and wild versions of Christmas and holiday favorites.

STEVE and the whole OTTO's crew were there along with too many people to remember and everyone went home waiting for next year's Christmas at OTTO's.

I have managed to recover and will have a smaller Christmas party at the GRAND CENTRAL BAR this Thursday Dec 22. MARY BETH lined up a great group of bands, so the hell with the strike, come on over and party some more.

I hope everyone out there has a safe and HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON! I would also like to thank everyone for coming to the shows all year long and I will try to keep booking the BEST BANDS at the BEST CLUBS around — in NYC and the rest of the world!

Take care,

WOOD
