Hi All,

The Super Bowl was interesting but my favorite part was the FEDEX commercial with the cavemen.

I was busy at OTTO's with another multidimensional show.

We started off with the BAGHDADDIOS followed by KADAFI. Then PROGRESSIVE DEMENTIA brought their ZAPPA-styled songs to our stage. At one point whne I told them they had 2 songs left, they said they only knew one but they would do 2 anyway. They asked the audience for a song title then asked for a key and proceeded to make up a song on the spot. It was brilliant and hilarious. They will be coming back.

MAGGES returned for their monthly show of traditional GREEK music with the OUZO flowing and JAMEELA belly dancing. BLONDE & BLUE followed and then ACID RAYZ did a final tune-up in preparation for their show at the CONTINENTAL this week.

Speaking of the CONTINENTAL, it's sad to hear that they will stop having live bands come summer. Maybe if more people start going to shows there we may be able to sway TRIGGER into keeping it open as a live venue. I understand that the rents have been going thru the roof and unless he can pay those rents he has to do what he can to pay those rents.

This week I have a show at THE CONTINENTAL and it should be awesome. Starting with the funky rock grooves of BONGO JONES and followed by the Lizard King style flow of ACID RAYZ. Then RAWSON will provide some eye candy for the ladies as well as rip thru their Prince style rock. DIRTY DICK will put a raunchy NYC-flavored spin on rock and they'll be followed by the jazzy-rock influences of SELF HUMAN. LEWD BUDDHA will then try to fit on the stage with their timbales, congas, drums, sax, 2 guitars (maybe 3) and bass for a sound reminiscent of SANTANA. Then DNR NYC will close out the show with more kick-ass rock'n'roll. So come on down and try to convince TRIGGER that we really do want LIVE music to stay at CONTINENTAL.

On Saturday SUZUKI SMITH will be arriving from Boston for a 1AM show at TRASH along with some other good bands.

This Sunday at OTTO's we will start WIND DOWN SUNDAY (where you wind down from a rough weekend and prepare for another week in hell!) with ALYSSA ROBBINS and follow with FRANKIE & HIS FINGERS. This band has one of the best drummers around today in SAMMI. Come down and check her out. She'll blow you away. Former leader of GOD THE BAND, DANNY ROCKETT's new venture BAD TEENAGE MOUSTACHE will follow with a wickedly funny and wry take on rock'n'roll that shouldn't be missed. They try to piss of the PC-oriented and usually succeed quite humorously. Hollow will wind up the loud portion of the nite.

We will then shift gears to what we call NYC UNPLUGGED - the core of NYC's best bands. BLONDE & BLUE will be back with some other surprise guests. At around 1AM we will have the "SOFA KING" WILDE JAM led by Ken Rowell of THE BAGHDADDIOS, and you just never know who'll show up to join in the madness! Come on down and enjoy the TIKI-themed confines of OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD, especially as the weather gets back to being cold. Lay back, enjoy a tropical drink and enjoy some great music.

Only 3 more weeks until we start doing shows in BROOKLYN again at the new hotspot in Bushwick - THE WRECK ROOM. There is a nice write-up in this week's NY PRESS (February 8-14, 2006) on what is sure to become a nice refuge for live music in Brooklyn.

Hope to see you soon.

Take care,

WOOD
