Hi All,

Still recuperating from an intense weekend. Nell's birthday party was VERY memorable.

We started the weekend at THE WRECK ROOM with the BAGHDADDIOS and they broke in a new guitar player. Then INFRADIG kicked some butt followed by THE CREAMSICLES. DIRTY DICK was next and with his cast removed the drummer was even wilder still. Capping off the evening were THE HESHERS. It was a great nite as most people stayed for all the bands. Everyone seemed to have a good time and the bands all want to come back. By summer this place is gonna be too hot!

Saturday nite was SURF MUSIC nite at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD. The show was by UNSTEADY FREDDY who always has the best in SURF ROCK. This time was no different. I was working the door, but I still was able to catch pieces of THE CHILLERS, 9th WAVE and MR. NUETRON.

On Sunday we had our anti-Oscar/NELL & CASEY's Birthday party at Otto's and it got insane rather quickly. We started with NYC UNPLUGGED - the core of NYC's best bands and JYNNX LYNNX, the leader of BOMBSHELL, started off the night solo. What a great way to hear BOMBSHELL songs. It was quite enlightening. JEN URBAN & THE BOX followed with a new line-up that included a drum machine instead of a drummer. Then we started WIND DOWN SUNDAY with CENTER OF ZERO which led to the start of the birthday celebrations. We even had a red carpet (or as close to red as you're gonna get at $1.19 a foot). Nell also had OSCAR grab bags that had all sorts of goodies inside. THE MEMPHIS MORTICIANS started the rockabilly with some HEAVY reverb on the vocals and SASQUATCH & THE SICK-A-BILLYS completed their 4-week tour with more craziness at OTTO's. SETH KESS and THE BLACK MARKET BAND closed off the live music portion of the evening but the birthday girls - NELL & CASEY - started DJing and that had people up on the bar, dancing & stripping (male & female). It was insane!

This week the weather is supposed to get better and it will make the WRECK ROOM that much better. We will start off with the rockabilly of LADY ANNE, followed by the rock of THE YEAR's BEST. Then there is the return of THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE. These boys are unbelieveable. 1 uprite bass being passed back & forth between all 3 front guys will have you up & dancing in no time. These boys mix in jazz, rockabilly, soul, be-bop, rock and everything else in between. Don't miss them! The rock of the FRANTIC ROMANTIX will lead into our weekend guests from North Carolina - VIVA LA VENUS. These guys kick ass.

On Sunday at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD for WIND DOWN SUNDAY (where you wind down from a rough weekend and prepare for another week in hell!) you can get a final dose of VIVA LA VENUS before they return to North Carolina and then you'll get another dose of THE YEAR's BEST. Then some wild punks from North Dakota will arrive to shake things up and lead to the guitar driven rock of SWAMP MUD. Marc Berley will return with some more of their basic rock. For NYC UNPLUGGED we have the return of BLONDE & BLUE and then a new "SOFA KING" WILDE Jam led by Kenn Rowell of the BAGHDADDIOS with some surprise guests.

Well, I hope to see ya soon.

Take care,

WOOD
