Hey All,

Oh, my head is just starting to come down to normal. Starting on friday with those damn IRISH CAR BOMBS! No more of those until next St. Patty's Day.

Speaking of St. Patty's Day, what a show we had at the WRECK ROOM in Bkln. LADY ANNE cancelled, AGAIN! What does she do that makes her band members keep quitting on her. No problem though, the GENTLEMEN CALLERS were astounding and finished off their week in NYC with another awesome show. BLOOD FROM STONE followed and were rip-roaring drunk before they started and more so after. The COLD HANDS COLLECTIVE did another long set. These guys have so much fun, I have to practically drag them off the stage. Finally NOPE opened up their weekend in NYC with a kick-ass performance.

On Saturday, I tried to bring my head down to normal but I left something at THE WRECK ROOM. So I went down there and was greeted with more shots. I then went home and finally got around to reading and looking at this GREAT book by BOB GRUEN - JOHN LENNON, The NEW YORK YEARS. Bob is a friend of mine and that has nothing to do with the fact that this is a GREAT BOOK! The pictures are FANTASTIC and the story that goes with it close and personal. You should get this book. It is GREAT! (oh yeah, I said it again.)

On Sunday at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD, COUNTRY JOE & HIS OUTLAW BAND started off the evening with a little country music to lead into the darkness and humor of INFRADIG. ALIEN CANOPY followed with a tight set, then things started to go wild. Russell Booker was late so I had to put NOPE on before them. Then as we waited for Russell to show up Billy (Fica of TELEVISION) suggested that he and Richard (Lloyd of TELEVISION) get up and do a little jam. I was all for it but when Russell showed up Richard said let the scheduled line-up play and maybe another time. I can't wait for another time. So RUSSELL BOOKER EXPERIENCE followed with a great set of HENDRIX covers and led into FRANKIE & HIS FINGERS. They did an awesome set that included mostly originals along with some great covers of MAJOR TOM (BOWIE), WATCHING THE DETECTIVES (COSTELLO) and PSYCHO KILLER (TALKING HEADS). You should try to see these "cute kids as they play with their toys" as their lead singer put it. Then we changed pace with THE SNOW BOOTS who opened for VAL IN TIME. Things were running late at that point but the crowd hung out and had a fun time anyway.

This Friday nite at THE WRECK ROOM will be a totally PUNK NITE with SUZUKI SMITH, ICU, NO PLACE TO PISS and HECTOR, and I'm trying to get another band to round out the nite.

On this coming Sunday at OTTO's we will have MAVEN, FAITH, THE LIVING PROOF BAND, HOME TO HENRY, THE SPRINKLE GENIES, THE CREAMSICLES and SELF HUMAN. Plus some more artists as part of the NYC UNPLUUGED series of shows.

Hope to see ya soon.

Take care,

WOOD
