HI ALL,

The shows this past weekend were so good that my voice didn't return until after 5pm on Sat. and on Mon. Bet some of you would have loved to hear that - or not hear it, as the case may be.

Friday's Punk show at THE WRECK ROOM was WILD! Starting off with YO! SCUNT, a last minute replacement, it rocked right out of the gate. Followed by NO PLACE TO PISS which featured the uncle of YO! SCUNT's bass player as the front man. Then I C U took over and I mean TOOK OVER! After going down to Texas for SXSW without any shows lined up, they guerrilla'd into 2 shows. Got into a brawl and got beat up by the cops in Texas. Ahh, a true NYC rock band experience in the red states. With bruised ribs and a black eye they took the stage and dropped mouths all over the room. PEE WEE was amazing! Then the boys from Boston, SUZUKI SMITH were on. They said it took them 3-1/2 hours to get here (sorry, there was traffic) and it sounded like they were probably listening to their own music for the ride. They did a wicked cover of "SUSPICIOUS MINDS" that was as if the KING himself had done it after a handful of pills. HECTOR capped off the nite and everyone went home drunk and happy.

On Saturday nite I helped my friends, Morgan & Rick from SUPERVILLAIN, and worked the door for their DIRTY BOMB show at the DELANCEY BAR. Their house band was backing up PAM the METAL QUEEN as she sang her lungs out. It was a great show. They do this on the last Saturday of each month. Check it out next month. They'' have a different singer.

On Sunday at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD it was WIND DOWN SUNDAY and it started off with a packed room for MAVEN and then Faith kept the room filled and packed in their own fans, The LIVING PROOF BAND followed with a bunch of their friends added to the room mix. When HOME TO HENRY took the stage , i was trying to find places to put people. Then the SPRINKLE GENIES changed the tempo of the music, but the crowd still packed in there. The CREAMSICLES followed with a warm-up show to prepare to go into the studio and then return as the house band in May.

For NYC UNPLUGGED - the core of NYC's best bands - we had ALL of SELF HUMAN and it really wasn't that unplugged, but noone seemed to mind. Finally we capped of the night with an extended set by the core of the NYC BLUES DEVILS - Danny and the Doctor. It was a memorable nite.

This Friday at the WRECK ROOM we have 2 bands coming in from California. From San Francisco we'll have CANDY FROM STRANGERS and from L.A. we'll have MAYSTAR. They'll be joined by Mr. McGREGOR, SKEEVOTZ and CHARM SCHOOL.

Sunday at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD CANDY FROM STRANGERS will complete their 5 day tour of NYC as will MAYSTAR. BONGO JONES and The FAME JUNKIES will also be there. But the highlight will be the beginning of the double residency for the month of April. THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE will be the band-in-residence at 10pm for WIND DOWN SUNDAY and the NEW YORK NO STARS will be the band-in-residence for NYC UNPLUGGED at 11pm. These two bands will have you mesmerized and it should lead into some very interesting "SOFA KING" WILDE JAMS. On Top of it all we'll help Kenn Rowell (BAGHDADDIOS) celebrate his birthday.

Hope to see you there. Gotta go see THE NEW YORK DOLLS tonite at CBGB. I'll tell ya about it next week.

Take care,

WOOD
