Hi ALL,

It turned out to be a nice weekend after all.

Starting with Friday's show at THE WRECK ROOM with KADAFI and then LACH & THE SECRETS. It's rare for LACH to play with his band and when they do, it's supewrb. He captured the room and took them there and back again. They were followed by last minute fill-ins, SAINT BASTARD, who were quite amusing. Then HOLLIS took the stage with their little spitfire Holly and her cordless mic, running around flopping on the ground and all sorts of general craziness> She was graduating college the next day at 10am back in Pa. Ah, to show up for graduation good and hung over. That's what college is all about. They were followed by the HELLFIRE BOYS CLUB who turned in a cool punk rock show.

On saturday there was a party at the new MAD JUANA compound in midtown. It started with a BBQ on the roof and then moved inside for some live performances. The LOVE PIRATES led off and that's all I know causeI had to go work. I'm doing security at OTTO's on Sat. The clubs have to have licensed security people now and I am! All those years working with the DEAD do pay off sometimes.

On Sunday it was an intersting night at OTTO's SHRUNKEM HEAD. Being Mother's Day it started slowly withCOUNTRY JOE & HIS OUTLAW BAND doing their country thing and the M. DAVID HORNBUCKLE of the M_WORD did a great acoustic set, as his drummer/garbagepailer is on tour. DONATHEN returned with a new band and was better than ever. Leading up to THE BAGDADDIOS. This is when the night started to turn weird with the back room filling up for their set and then came the GREEKS. MAGGESS was entertaining as usual but the OUZO was flowing freely and the crowd got tipsy quickly. JAMEELA's belly dancing while they play makes it all worthwhile. Then as a surprise, JORGE BEEFALO,from THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE showed up and did a solo set. By this point there were four different points of insanity spread out throughout the bar. We were lucky to get out with our own sanity in check. Or maybe we didn't?

This week THE X's start their mini-tour with a show in DC on Monday and then playing with our friends VIVA LA VENUS at THE POUR HOUSE in Raleigh, North Carolina. They then play at TOBACCO ROAD in MIami on thurs. Check their website for more details.

On Friday at THE WRECK ROOM we have the insanity of PROGRESSIVE DEMENTIA followed by DARK MARBLES. Then we have the return from upstate NY of BLACK CAT ELLIOT and their rockin' style. Then we'll move into a jazzy flowing rock with COLD HAND REPAIR.

On Sunday at OTTO's we'll have HIGHVANNA, DOWNSHALLOW, The LIVING PROOF BAND and then the return to OTTO's of F.P. TOZ without the asshole. They were at the WRECK ROOM a few weeks back and the songs still sound great. THE CREAMSICLES will continue their residency and then the LOVE PIRATES return to OTTO's stage with a ROLLING STONES themed set. The NY NO STARS will then play their unplugged set and be followed by more surprise guests.

Hope you all have a fun week and I hope to see ya soon.

Take care,

WOOD
