Hi All,

It's been another wild week in NYC and the rock never stops.

Last Friday at THE WRECK ROOM we had PROGRESSIVE DEMENTIA lead off as they prepared for their residency at OTTO's in JUNE and they were over the top as usual. The DARK MARBLES rocked with a steady groove followed by BLACKCAT ELLIOT from Albany, who blew the roof off the place. They were folowed by COLD FLAVOR REPAIR who had the place up and dancing to their LA style grooves.

On Sunday I was up early to go see SEA MONSTER at DON HILL's. It was a GREAT show as always. It was also the first time I've seen the redesigned DH and I must say it's really done well along with a new sound system that was even better than the old one, which was pretty good.

I then had to go to OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD for WIND DOWN SUNDAY. Starting with the rocking HUGHVANNA, followed by DOWNSHALLOW, who started without their singer, (who was late,) they were doing real good and then the singer joined them for a few songs before turning the stage over to THE LIVING PROOF BAND. They rocked and even brought their kids along. OTTO's is fun for the WHOLE family. Then it was the TRIUMPHANT return to OTTO's of F.P. TOZ. The band had developed a cancer(lead guitarist) but it was removed and the patient came out just as good as before. There were many old time TOZ fans in attendance and all agreed, with the cancer removed they are still a kick-ass rock'n'roll band and the new songs are just as good if not better than the old.

The CREAMSICLES continued their residency by rockin the place leading up to the LOVE PIRATES. Playing without a bass player, they decided to just do a bunch of ROLLING STONES covers and they had the crowd jumping.

Then the NY NO STARS took the stage, but instead of playing unplugged, they went electric for a bunch of songs and then switched to unplugged for a bunch more.

It was a GREAT NITE!

This week on Thursday there is the 20th Annual BILL POPP's tribute to his late father and it's a benefit for the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. It's usually held in Feb. but this year Bill himself had to have an emergency heart operation at the time so it was resheduled for this Thurs., 5/25, with PATTI ROTHBERG, LENNY KAYE (PATTI SMITH GROUP), CARLA LOTHER with RICHIE STOTTS (THE PLASMATICS), SEAMONSTER, CATHOLIC GIRLS and others. It'll be a FANTASTIC show and it's for a good cause and it's only $5. And every $3 spent on a pint of BUD will go to the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. The show starts at 7pm.

On Friday at THE WRECK ROOM we're gonna start Memorial Day weekend and it'll be a nite of PUNK ROCK! We'll start at 9pm with the guitar driven rock of DEEP INTENT followed by more guitars from PETRO. From San Francisco, AMANDA's EX will rock us, then it'll really punk up with FLIGHT 909, YO! SCUNT, HECTOR and THE FUX; It's gonna be LOUD!!! (Oh yeah, last week we got our first noise complaint at the WRECK ROOM!)

On Sunday we will continue the holiday weekend at OTTO's at 6pm with JAKHAMR HYPCRYT and their hard rock folowed by Japanese punk band UZUHI - unplugged. The last time these guys played they did "MY WAY" in Japanese with the singer starting off acapella and when the guitarist joined in he broke a string. While he changed the string the singer kept going without missing a note and when the guitarist joined back in he immediately cut his finger, but that didn't stop him as he squirted blood all over the neck of his guitar and anyone who was close to the stage. Following them will be the punk rockers THE HELLFIRE BOYS CLUB followed by AMANDA's EX from San Francisco. The CREAMSICLES will then end their month long residency and finally, the return of ACID RAYZ with some new demonic songs that they wrote for their show on 6/6/6 at CONTINENTAL.

Well that's it for now. Have a nice Holiday weekend and I hope to see ya soon.

Take care,

WOOD
