Hi All,

After a hot week with nothing to do but work, the rain starts to try and mess with the weekend. Nothing messes with my plans, I adapt like a cockroach.

Friday nite at THE WRECK ROOM we had our penultimate show and it was wild (see lots of photos!). First off the a/c was kickin' (finally). We started of with TEST SPECIMEN and they led off hard and fast. Next was SIREN JUNKIES, a band from NEW ZEALAND who had been jerked around by some promoters in Philly and Boston so I squeezed them in and they were up to the task. THE FUX followed and one of his guitars wasn't working, so he lit it on fire (he does that whether it works or not - it's his thing!) ICU then did another 20 minute, highly intense set, after which PEE WEE & MIKE were totally spent as usual. THE BLACKOUT SHOPPERS kept the intensity going. I want to thank BLACKOUT MATT for helping me put together this killer nite! SUZUKI SMITH was in from Boston on the first nite of their mini-tour and were also raging away. Finally YO! SCUNT wrapped up the nite around 3am and everyone was able to go home TOTALLY satisfied and drained from a WILD nite of PUNK ROCK'n'ROLL!

On Saturday morning I was up early because it was time for THE MERMAID PARADE! It wasn't raining that bad but the humidity and dampness messed with the Volcano on the OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD float. They won last year for best motorized float. This year the float with the blue-painted, naked (except for g-strings and starfish) extremely HOT women won. (No argument from me.) Then we partied at CHA-CHA"s and RUBY's as the sky really opened up. I was prepared to go straight to OTTO's with a change of clothes so that I could work the door, but I had put them in OTTO's owners car and he didn't show til around 1am. Noone noticed me though because THE MIGHTY AFRODITE was in her usual topless mermaid costume on the bar right as you walk in.

Sunday itwas back to OTTO's for another show with SUZUKI SMITH as they finished of their mini-tour of NYC> They rocked hard again and stuck around for some more fun before leaving. FLACK BLAMINGO was their usual professional selves leading to 3 KISSES (from Texas). These guys had a rockin' good show and hit it off with our Texan bartender - LANI FORD. Next was time for some JAPANESE punk rock with UZUHI - unplugged and as usual they filled the room. There was one wild dancer who I had to remove after he knocked over a table, broke a glass and started to throw it around. The Japanese were amazed at this old man's casual "style" (as they called it) of escorting him out with minimal effort. They played a GREAT set and were followed by the blues improv style of another Japanese friend, KATSUNORI. PROGRESSIVE DEMENTIA then wrapped up their month long residency with a TV show themed set. They were hilarious as well as musically proficient. Then a new band on the rise FREEDUMB BOMB fro Pa. took the stage and banged out some more serious hard rock'n'roll.

BLONDE & BLUE then made their return to OTTO's and helped us wind down a wild weekend as HILL closed off the nite. We called it early 'cause everyone was still toasted from the parade the day before.

This week we will have our FINAL show at THE WRECK ROOM until further notice. we'll end it with some more KICK-ASS rock'n'roll and make them wanting more. DIRTY DICK, BONGO JONES, HECTOR, BLAZE DEBRIS, DEAD LIZARD & 3rd WAVE BANDITS will ROCK THE HOUSE!

On Sunday we start a new band-in-residence for the month of JULY: GIRL TO GORILLA. This is one of Steve Pang's bands and will be part of a month long PANG-IN-THE ASS SPECTACULAR. By that I mean on 3 of the 5 Sundays Steve will be playing in 2 bands each nite. This week's second band will be KILLAH PANG with Steve on drums, PAM the METAL QUEEN on vocals, DONNA LUPE (SHEWOLVES) on guitar and LANI FORD (STARK) on bass. We'll also have DUSKY JEWEL with DIDI DELICIOUS, LOVE, ETC., KID EGO (from England) and HOUNDS FROM HELL (also from England) ACID RAYZ and ROB HANEY & KENN ROWELL. It will be a great lead up to a wild 4th of July week. There may even be a BBQ before the bands start.

Hope to see ya there,

WOOD
