Hi All,

What a TREMENDOUS show at CONTINENTAL last Friday night. Over 200 people showed up for my last show at this hallowed rock venue that will be closing on 9/16. Even though one band cancelled a week before the show and another a day before the show(by e-mail, no less) we still had a FANTASTIC show. SCARLET X led off the night with a rousing set of r'n'r. Oh, and they are from NYC, not NJ. Sorry! Then the boys from ALBANY, BLACK CAT ELLIOT kicked some butt. Metal JOHN did another fine 21 minute and 13 second piece of metal rock guitar. SLUNT were AMAZING! These cats have been touring all over the world and getting rave reviews and it's obvious to see why. Between great songs, awesome musicianship and HOT looking babes you had all the ingredients for a WILD nite of rock'n'roll. THE SLAGS followed and were unbelievably rockin' considering they hadn't practiced in around 6 months and took the show with 26 hours advance notice. JOE HOGAN was shredding guitar solos while DANNY was singing away and TEXAS was beating the hell out of his drums. PSHYCHO 77 had a week to prepare for the show and it was enough time to put together another kick ass performance and DIRTY DICK topped off the night with their anthem "FUCK YOU"! It was a terrific night of rock'n'roll!

On Sunday at OTTO's we started off with a young band, THE PHOSPHATES and they were well versed in r'n'r. ALICIA LEVY with her slide guitar work showed her appreciation for her roots in NYC rock. Then SAKURA MADAMS took the stage in their first show ever and it seemed like they had been playing together for years. ALIEN CANOPY kicked in with their solid rock set leading up to the band-in-residence for the month of August - FRANKIE & HIS FINGERS. Frankie was a little delayed getting to the club due to traffic he encountered on the way back from WOODSTOCK where he appeared in the play THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. He showed up in costume looking like a greaser from the 50's but still pulled off a GREAT set! SAMMI was here usual phenomenol self on the drums and you should check these guys out before the month is over. You'll be hooked. JAKHAMR HYPOCRYT was next with a hard punk set and EYE C SNAKES, from PITSBURG, did a tight set. Then CASPER and his band NEUF NEUF NINE took the stage and produced another rockin set. The music was just kickin ALL NIGHT LONG! Then we had KATSUNORI from the band SUPERGROOVE do his rockin blues set followed by SIMON RYMAN from SWEDEN. He had a good set despite having been up for over 24 hours and jet-lagged to the max. Then CHET BEEFALO from THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE did a smooth rockin country set that had everyone wanting even more. WILD BILL THOMPSON from the HUDSON DUSTERS was hanging out and he got up and jammed with CHET along with KENN ROWELL of THE BAGHDADDIOS singing. CHET & BILL were trading riffs back and forth and finally we were able to go home more than satified after 12 different acts. I thought it was supposed to be "WIND DOWN SUNDAY" but it never did! A GREAT nite of LIVE music, only in NYC!

This week on Friday the NEW YORK DOLLS will be performing a FREE concert at the SOUTH STREET SEAPORT to promote their new album. It starts at 7pm and if you haven't gotten it yet, you should! It's great NYC style rock'n'roll.

After that I'm heading upstate to Beaverkill and JOHNNYLAWPALOOZA, our yearly gathering of friends at JOHN LAW's house upstate where we camp out, swim, fish and rock for 3 days! Ah, relaxing in the mountains with LIVE rock'n'roll! A perfect summer weekend.

But I'll be rushing back to NYC for Sunday nite's show at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD with DEEP INTENT, CATSPAW, HOME TO HENRY, FRANKIE & HIS FINGERS, BROTHER EARTH, BLONDE & BLUE, AMANDA & ROSS and ISRAEL GRIPKA.

Then off to work at 7am on Monday. I LOVE LIVE ROCK'n'ROLL!

Hope to survive the weekend and see ya soon.

Take care,

WOOD
