Hi ALL,

The summer is now officially over but so what. We still can continue to rock!

Last Friday at OTTO's it was the owner, STEVE PANG's birthday party and what fun we had. Starting off with the NYC BLUES DEVILS in an unplugged set, DANNY & THE DOCTOR got the room warmed up and then the TOMBSTONE BRAWLERS rocked the roof off the house with a WILD psychobilly set. Then it was time for MAD JUANA's return to OTTO's. With a new percussionist, since last they played there, and an accordian replacing the viola, the sound was still vintage MAD JUANA. People were grooving with the spirit of the music. Then it was time for the Greeks. MAGGES came out and were joined by JAMEELA's bellydancing and as the OUZO flowed more and more people got up and danced. It was a real fun nite.

On Sunday at OTTO's we celebrated the birthday of WILD BILL THOMPSON. WILD BILL is one of the best guitarists around and has been doing it since I first met him in THE SENDERS back in the 70's. We started off with the Japanese punk of UZUHI and led into the wildness that is M. DAVID HORNBUCKLE. DAVID was joined by LIZ on viola and DON on clarinet. He always entertains the crowd. Then JOHN LAW of BANANA FISH ZERO did a few songs before being joined by THE HOT ROSES(his daughters, LULU -8, and ZELDA -2) and it was amazing! It was all filmed for a show coming in the future on the Discovery network. F.P. TOZ were next and the boys keep getting better every time they play. The NYC BLUES DEVILS were back for another unplugged set as they broke out a few new tunes and some of the old. (Basically they're all old tunes - just new for them). The LOVE PIRATES finished off their residency with their best show of the month. It just proves what I've always said about the residency, it helps the bands get tighter and connect with their fans as they gain new ones. Then it was time for the birthday boy himself, WILD BILL THOMPSON, to take the stage with his current band - THE HUDSON DUSTERS. The older guys showed the kids how it's done. Mixing some old classics with some new originals and rocking out the house. Then it was time for the return of THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE. Opening with a jazzy version of "STAYING ALIVE" into some originals and ending up with "IRON MAN". "I'M UGLY" and ending with the classic gospel tune "WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN" and rockin' out with it. Then ACID RAYZ put their touch of rock to the stage and we ended with a "SOFA KING" JAM that had PAM the METAL QUEEN join WILD BILL, SUSAN MITCHELL, JOHN COLLINS and even JETT joined them for a few tunes. It was another one for the books at OTTO's.

This wek I start to do shows at CLUB MIDWAY with an evening of PUNK ROCK. On Friday, TEST SPECIMEN, YO! SCUNT, THE SAUDI AGENDA, THE BLACKOUT SHOPPERS, LOAFASS, SUZUKI SMITH and ACID RAYZ will start what will be a once a month show at CLUB MIDWAY. It's located at the old SCENIC, 25 Ave. B (b/w e.2nd & e.3rd Streets). Now that CONTINENTAL is gone and CB's is soon to follow, I think this will be a good place to pick up where those clubs left off.

On Sunday at OTTO's we have SPAGHETTI EASTERN MUSIC, HOME TO HENRY, ALIEN CANOPY, DUSKY JEWEL, BATZ, HOLLOW, THE BAGHDADDIOS, KATSUNORI, BLONDE & BLUE and T.J. JORDAN.

Hopefully I'll see you soon.

Take care,

WOOD
