Hi All,

The 3 day weekend was fun and I survived w/o any full moon craziness. Well, nothing major at least.

There are some new pictures on my photo page of THE HOT ROSES at OTTO's (9/24) as well as pics of the 9/29 show at MIDWAY and the 10/8 show at OTTO's.

Last Friday at BOOGALOO started of a little weird. 7 days before showdate I find out that the club was double booked. I discussed this with the other promoter and we worked it out! Then I had to find a drum kit with less than 24 hours til showtime. I did! Then my ride showed up late. The sound systum was weird as usual setting it up but I persevered and the bands were on! F.P. TOZ led off and helped defeat the gremlins. SQUARE WAVE PUNCH showed some serious musicianship followed by LOW FI AGGRESSION. These guys were part of a band called HOLLIS and they are even better in this new formation. Then SKEEVOTZ turned out the room and won over some of the DJ's fans that got there early.

On Sunday at OTTO's being as it was a 3 day weekend we didn't know what to expect but I had a feeling it would turn out fine and it did! PETER BLAST from Chicago and on POPTOWN Records led off with a real good old-style punk rock show and he had sSPYDER & CHARLIE DARLING from the DETOX DARLINGS as part of his band. JENNA DARLING was also in attendance. Hopefully we'll be hearing from them soon. Then COSMO's SUNSHINE BAND hit the stage and continued with some regular rock'n'roll. ANIMAL PHARM was next and even with lead singer Corey hungover as all hell, they turned out the room with their funky grooves mixed with some serious rock. THE FUX were up next as a warm up before heading to North Carolina and South Florida next week and they showed the others what it takes to be sent on the road representing NYC and "FRANK WOOD presents". BATZ then continued with their residency and with lead singer SUET feeling better than last week(she was sick then) they showed the crowd why they are in residence this month. Their tiny drummer HITOMI wowed the crowd with her hard driving beats. JOE BENDIK followed and showed that you can rock out hard without a band behind you. We then had some more awesome drumming come from SAMMI and the band FRANKIE & HIS FINGERS. She more than compensated for not having a bass player. They don't need one, they kick ass quite well, thank you. Then ACID RAYZ took the stage just as the bar started to fill up around 12am. Keeping the crowd's attention they got the crowd goig as we had a special "SOFA KING" WILDE jam. led by WILD BILL THOMPSON (THE SENDERS, HUDSON DUSTERS) and SUSAN MITCHEL (ACID RAYZ, BLONDE & BLUE and countless other projects)they were joined on vocals by PAM the METAL QUEEN doing a few country numbers and then NICK(ACID RAYZ) and MORGAN (SUPERVILLAIN) took turns belting out some down & dirty blues. The "SOFA KING" WILDE JAM is truley so because you just never know who'll be in OTTO's late on a Sunday nite.

On wednesday was the first of many WEDS. nites at the LUCKY CAT in Williamsburg(2nd & 4th Weds. of each month)done together with DJ ROB NITRO. STEVE PANG was in the first 2 bands - GIRL TO GORILLA and THE VONDELLS. GIRL TO GORILLAG was straight ahead rock followed by The VONDELLS and their LYNNE VON led vocals on some real fun punk tunes. THE ARKHAMS finished off the live portion of the night with some kick ass rockabilly. DJ NITRO kept the crowd aroused b/w and after the bands and it was a good turn out for a dreary, rainy Weds. nite.

This Sunday at OTTO's will have 2 Guest Hosts helping out (while I attend the Closing of CBGB with the PATTI SMITH GROUP), KENN ROWELL (THE BAGHDADDIOS) and MARY BETH. JEN SHAMRO, the transplanted Floridian, will lead off and into her friend LISALUDWIG's band, BLACK FLAMINGO with BILLY FICCA from TELEVISION, on drums.

They will be followed by THE LIVING PROOF BAND and then BILLY F. will return to the kit along with AL OTTO on bass in the RUSSELL BOOKER EXPERIENCE, a Hendrix cover band. BATZ will continue their residency after them and SPAZTIKOLON will put a twist in yours. Then HITOMI will return to the kit(these drummers can't get enoeugh of the OTTO's drum set) with her other band SAKURA MADAMS with YUKINO on bass. BLONDE & BLUE will follow and ROB HANEY will lead up to the "SOFA KING" WILDE JAM. By that time I should be back from CB's with some special friends.

Hope to see ya soon.

Take care,

WOOD
