Hi ALL,

I'm finally recovering from a really rough weekend and now it's time for Christmas. Maybe I'll get some rest next year. But in the meantime:

The pictures from the 6 DAYS OF WOOD are finally up on the photo page. Check them out to see what you missed (or see if you're in any of them).

Caught the return of MAD JUANA to NYC on 12/14 at Sin-e. Actually most of them were already here but SAMI finally got a break from touring with the NY DOLLS. The MAD JUANA sound is a breath of fresh air mixed with a touch of nostalgia and it was good to hear them again.

I had another show at MIDWAY on 12/15 and it was a huge success. All of the bands were fantastic musicians and most of them had a little ZAPPA in them. OK, alot of ZAPPA . With BEN WARREN opening up and leading to THE SEDITION ACT, SPAZTIKOLON, BAD TEENAGE MOUSTACHE and then PROGRESSIVE DEAMENTIA, it was one off the wall lyric after another combined with serious musicianship. Then THE SAUDI AGENDA and last minute replacement, ELECTRIC SOUL, just flat out rocked-out the rest of the night.

Then on Sun., 12/17 we had the OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD Christmas Party and it was insanity as usual. I woke up late but by chance there was a last minute cancellation, so I made it on time. Starting with the traditional Japanese folk music of KOSSAn and his Shun-sing (it's a traditional Japanese guitar) we set an easy chi to the room. the DIXIELAND SPACE ORCHESTRA started to raise the level and then a little brevity as THE HOT ROSES (LUL ADAMS-8 y.o.) had a diva situation but the SHORT DANDELIONS (ZELDA ADAMS - 2 y.o.) jumped in and took her place. Daddy JOHN LAW (BFZ) is in both bands so it was an easy switch. JANA PERI followed with a tight set.

Then it was JOY RYDER's turn. I had to get her a guitarist, at the last minute, and found TY (DUSKY JEWEL) available with one day notice. He brought along fellow DUSKY JEWEL, JOFF, and the two of them were gonna back up JOY. While I was outside smoking a cigar I spotted the arrival of DANNY RAY (MAD JUANA) and I thought - "HMMM?" He had his sax with him and I asked, and he was now part of the mix. At this point MIKE LINN (BLUE SHADOW DOGS) was listening in and said "You guys want a drummer?" Joy arrived 5 minutes later and I introduced her to her BAND DE JOUR. 10 minutes later they were on stage and rockin' down the house. Everyone was amazed at how well they jelled and everyone was hoping to do it again. I've been working shows with JOY since '74 and she still knows how to get a crows up and moving.

GIRL TO GORILLA followed and THE VONDELLS were after them, so the music just kept going. Now it was time for PAM the METAL QUEEN's new band, GRANDE, to take the OTTO stage. Some were worried that they would blow everyones ears out, but PAM has assembled a top notch set of excellent rockers who played the room just right. They sounded FANTASTIC. WOW! Two of the best female voices in NYC rock'n'roll, in one room, in one night! But then, it was a Sunday at OTTO's.

SUSQUEHANNA INDUSTRIAL TOOL & DIE were up next and did a kick-ass, straight-up country rockabilly the way it was in the beginning. By now it was a little after 1 and we had a "SOFA KING" WILDE JAM of JOFF(DUSKY JEWEL) -who had been drinking, heavily, in the bar since around 7pm- on guitar; MATT (HOSEY) -who had been drinking, heavily, in the bar since 8pm -on bass and SUSAN (ACID RAYZ) ( who I had just awoken from a nap) on violin. They did a spirited set and everyone went home Happy!

Meanwhile upstate in NYACK, KENN ROWELL and BLANKFEST had a very successful show and collected close to 700 blankets, which we will give to the homeless on Christmas Eve. (More on that later.)

This Thursday, 12/21 I will have a show at THE DELANCEY BAR (downstairs) with THE LIPSTICK KILLERS (NY DOLLS cover band), the punk rock of THEY HATE US, followed by a surprise guest and then the Latino- tinged rock of LEWD BUDDHA and finishing off with the rtemnants of the SMACK DARTS and some friends just rockin out for the Holidays. There will aslo be a wild party called UNISEX SALON going on in the upstairs room.

Now on Sunday, CHRISTMAS EVE, we WILL BE OPEN at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD and we will have live bands. The bar will open at 6pm with THE BCP taking the stage at 7pm followed by SAKURA MADAM, HOSEY and ACID RAYZ. We will then have an enlightining "SOFA KING" WILDE JAM with some real special musicians donating their talents to make some Hliday Rock'n'Roll Magic! This is gonna be a special one.

Sunday is also when we are going to be giving away the blankets to the homeless. You can join us and experience the true meaning of CHRISTMAS! I know it sounds corny but, you gotta do it to see what I mean. It's gonna be fun and everyone's invited to join us ( we have close to 700 blankets to give away.. If you have a car, that would be even better. If you know anyone who needs blankets come on down and we'll give them to you to give to them.

Alright, I gotta rest. it's gonna be a long and fun-filled weekend and even I must prepare.

Hope to see you soon and

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to EVERYONE!

Enjoy!

Take care,

WOOD
