What's Good - By Frank Wood | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hi folks , I've been busy organizing a few new things so I haven't been out much.. This coming Sun 10/28/01 there will be a benefit fot the families
of those who were lost from SQUAD 1 in Brooklyn. It will be at
ARLENE'S GROCERY (95 Stanton St)
starting at 8pm. Featured performers are TWO
CHICKS and a CASIO (www.twochicksandacasio.com),
Leah's (the tall chick) brother-in-law was one of the firefighters
from SQUAD 1 who didn't come home to his family. Also HUEY
LYNCH and his band will be paying their respects to their
fallen buddies (these guys are members of As some of you might know, Stemway.com along with NYROCK.com
will be bringing you FRANK WOOD Presents at the 10/50
LOUNGE every Sunday starting on NOV. 11, 2001. This will be
a combination grand opening/benefit for the victims of the WTC
tragedy. OH, 11/11 is also my birthday so
we're combining them along with some other SCORPIOs
to make this the "MUST BE AT" of the year. There will
be 15 bands and many surprise guests
spread out b/w the bar, the cabaret room and the restaurant (this
place is big). More info will be coming so keep your eyes peeled
here for it! The next nite I escorted my friend, Ken, to the middle of the ghetto known as Bedford-Styvusant (he had never been there) to check out some friends of ours. The place was Club CASABLANCA (c/o Malcom X blvd and MacDonough st), and it was a cool little spot. The band we were checking out was FENIXS. Fronted by an old friend T.C. on sax, the guys (Swann/guitar, Chris/bass, and Al/drums) played some groovin old time R & B, and to make it even better ESTHER fed us big time (turkey wings, ham, ribs, greens, rice and much more) and it was all FREE! Dave, the owner, told me they do this every thurs. nite so stop by any thurs b/w 7 & 10pm. 69 NOVA played
at the CONTINENTAL (25 3rd Ave, c/o
St Marks Pl) and they were as outrageous as usual. Tuesday
always sings and dances her heart out and Joe
(guitar). GRAND OPENING |
